Anne Treseder is an attorney in San Francisco, California. In 1986 she was a founding member of the International Committee to Commemorate Dr. Aristides de Sousa Mendes, which successfully worked to "rehabilitate" Sousa Mendes in his homeland. Later, in trying to follow Sousa Mendes' example, she became involved in the fight for East Timorese self-determination. She has been honored by Visas for Life and by the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation for her work on East Timor and the Sousa Mendes cause. She has written numerous articles for the Portuguese-American and Caboverdian-American media and is presently working on an archive for inclusion in the planned Sousa Mendes museum.
