Howard CHAMBERLAIN, a US citizen, received a visa from Aristides de Sousa Mendes in Bordeaux on September 9, 1939.

He crossed into Portugal, and subsequently sailed from Lisbon to Buenos Aires, then on to Rio de Janeiro, arriving on the vessel Brazil in August 1940.
