The SCHAPIRO couple along with Ida's sister Raisa DEMBO received their visas from Aristides de Sousa Mendes in Bordeaux on June 17, 1940.
They crossed into Portugal. The SCHAPIRO couple sailed from Lisbon to New York on the São Tome in December of 1940. Raisa DEMBO, along with her brother Boris DEMBO, traveled from Lisbon to Brazil on the vessel Cabo de Hornos, also in December of 1940.
