About the Family

The WEILLER/DIPLARAKOS family received their visas from Aristides de Sousa Mendes in Bordeaux on June 22, 1940.

The family crossed into Portugal without Paul-Louis WEILLER, who remained in France and was later arrested. They flew from Lisbon to New York on the Pan Am Atlantic Clipper seaplane in October 1940. Paul-Louis WEILLER escaped in January 1942, fleeing first to Morocco, then to Cuba, and finally to Canada. His mother was deported and died at Auschwitz in 1944.
