About the Family

The GREIZERSTEIN family received Portuguese transit visas authorized by Aristides de Sousa Mendes in June 1940. They crossed into Portugal and subsequently sailed to Brazil in November 1940. They emigrated to the United States in 1952 and changed the family name to GREY.

Jeannette and Samuel NEULINGER escaped from Antwerp, Belgium to Lisbon, Portugal, presumably with a visa from Aristides de Sousa Mendes. Joseph NEULINGER escaped first to Tangiers and then joined his family in Portugal. They all emigrated to the United States on the vessel Gonçalo Velho in February of 1941.

This family is linked with the LERNER family.
