About the Family

The NEUMARKT family and Abraham HOROWITZ received their visas from Aristides de Sousa Mendes in Bordeaux on June 17, 1940.

This family did not cross into Portugal, but remained in France. In October 1943, Julius NEUMARKT and family received unauthorized Salvadoran citizenship papers issued by George Mandel-Mantello, First Secretary of the Salvadoran Consulate in Switzerland, sent to their residence in Nice.

The NEUMARKT family emigrated to Israel. Abraham HOROWITZ was interned in Drancy on December 1, 1943, deported to Auschwitz on August 27, 1943 and was murdered there.
