Juliette Germaine CHAMBON and the SZESZLER (or SESSLER) brothers received visas from Aristides de Sousa Mendes in Bordeaux on June 20, 1940.

They crossed into Portugal and sailed from Lisbon to Rio de Janeiro on the vessel Serpa Pinto in August 1940.

Leopold SZESZLER was a prominent journalist based in Paris and known under the name Leo POLDÈS. He became a permanent resident of Brazil in 1941, but returned to Paris after the war.
