The EMBIRICOS and VOYATZIDES families, both in the Greek shipping industry, received sequential visas from Aristides de Sousa Mendes in Bordeaux on June 17, 1940. EMBIRICOS family members received visa numbers 1970, 1972, 1973 and 1974.
The EMBIRICOS family crossed into Portugal. Leonidas and Yvonne EMBIRICOS sailed on the Excambion from Lisbon to New York in October 1940. Michel and Penelopi EMBIRICOS traveled with Andreas and Nina EMBIRICOS on the Nea Hellas from Lisbon to New York, also in October 1940.
