About the Family

Julia SAZONOVA and her son Dimitri SAZONOFF received visas from Aristides de Sousa Mendes in March of 1940.

They crossed into Portugal, where Julia, an authority on the history of dance, researched and wrote a book on Portuguese dance.

In May of 1942 they sailed on the vessel Guine from Lisbon to New York.
