About the Family

This couple, of whom the husband was a U.S. citizen and the wife was French, were in Bordeaux, France on June 18, 1940. They presumably obtained Portuguese visas from Aristides de Sousa Mendes on or around that date, as they crossed into Portugal and sailed from Lisbon to New York on the vessel Excambion in July 1940.
