On May 22, 1940, Aristides de Sousa Mendes sent a request to the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to grant visas to the VAN FREYBURG family, all Dutch citizens.
On June 11, 1940, the Dutch Legation in Portugal wrote a letter of support in favor of this family's visa application.
