Children Saved from the Nazis — The Story of Sir Nicholas Winton is a documentary film about Nicholas Winton, the man who organized the Kindertransport evacuation of 669 children from Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia to the United Kingdom on the eve of the Second World War. His son Nick Winton will be joining us live from the UK. Also speaking will be the historian Dr. Mordecai Paldiel, and the event is moderated by Melissa Hacker of the Kindertransport Association.

In 1941, a specialized German looting unit in France plundered one of Renoir’s most haunting masterworks: La Petite Irène. In her deeply researched new book, The Girl in Blue — Renoir’s Portrait of a Dynasty Erased, author Doreen Carvajal reconstructs the intertwined journeys of Irène Cahen d’Anvers — the Jewish model who survived in occupied Paris while members of her family were deported and murdered — and of her famous portrait that was looted and passed through Hermann Göring’s hands. Their paths converge in a story of beauty and betrayal ― the painting a silent witness to what history tried to erase. -

The Academy-Award nominated film Claude Lanzmann: Spectres of the Shoah by the British filmmaker and journalist Adam Benzine, explores the 12-year journey undertaken by Lanzmann to make his 1985 film Shoah, a nine-and-a-half-hour-long documentary which is today considered among the most important Holocaust works in existence.
